Are you a high school student with a dream college in mind? The straight A student might be thinking Harvard…A student with a love of science may want to attend MIT while others know certain colleges and universities have frats and sororities and an alumni network that will help them get a job after they graduate, and that is a big factor in choosing their dream school.
But many of these students then have to look at the bottom line cost for their dream schools and wonder how their family is going to be able to pay for the expenses. Read the rest of this entry

As if completing your scholarship application was not difficult enough – now you need to ask your teachers for letters of recommendation. Ouch! Not only is this usually an uncomfortable thing for most students to do….they also tend to put it off until the last minute. Not good – it puts you and your teachers in a very bad situation. College tuition fees are increasing faster than the rise of cost of living in most areas, and the financial aid available from traditional sources such as federal government and the schools are rapidly being cut back. For many students thinking about college -winning a scholarship the only way for college and graduate students to be able to afford college. Did you know that every year Congress allocates around $67 million for student aid? The money is to be awarded in the form of gifts, loans, grants and scholarships, all based on a student’s qualifications and/or need.
However, of the various types of student funding aid available from the United States Federal Government, the preferred choice is grants, by both both students and parents alike, mainly because grant money for college, unlike a student loan, doesn’t have to be paid back.
