Any good high school athlete dreams of getting a Division 1 sports or athletic scholarship! Division I schools sports programs such as football, basketball, track, hockey and baseball all have recruiters who go after the top players in every sport..  

Unfortunately, the less well funded sports, especially women’s sports, even at major schools rarely have scouting teams. Minority-owned businesses grew more than four times as fast as U.S. firms overall, according to a report recently released by the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce. Since 1992, minority owned businesses have increased from 2.1 million to almost 2.8 million firms.

This is probably one of the older grant resources online, and it offers a huge database packed with information. On the good  side – it’s a lot of information at your fingertips – on the downside – it can be a little overwhelming when you first start out.

This is actually a recurring monthly membership, which you can easily cancel at any time. Most member usually stay on the service for 6 to 9 months to take full advantage of the updates on the service. And that is the best part of getting a service rather than a printed book or ebook if you are looking for a variety of different grants – a monthly service means that the database will be updated with fresh programs, as opposed to a printed guide. With a one time fee – what you get at purchase time is all you will get!

Overall, it’s a good choice if you have limited financial resources for your search, and want to be able to research a wide variety of grants and funding programs.

If you are a talented artist – in almost any virtually any aspect of ‘The arts’ – most colleges have scholarship money available for students gifted in theater, art, music, and dance.

In some cases, the college may have decided to specialize in a particular art, such as theater or dance, and has created a special fund to attract the best students in the discipline. As if completing your scholarship application was not difficult enough – now you need to ask your teachers for letters of recommendation. Ouch!  Not only is this usually an uncomfortable thing for most students to do….they also tend to put it off until the last minute. Not good – it puts you and your teachers in a very bad situation.
